NOIAFT founder Taylor Taglianetti speaks with producers Joe & Anthony Russo (directors, The Avengers franchise) and executive producer Mohamed Al-Daradji about their experience making Mosul. The film releases on Netflix on November 26th.
The film is a true story adapted from the jaw-dropping New Yorker article about the rogue SWAT units of Mosul who carry out dangerous guerilla-type missions against ISIS occupiers. Mosul is helmed by first-time director Matthew Michael Carnahan and is the first film produced by the Russo Brothers, post-Marvel, under their new company, AGBO.
The film is refreshing and historic in its authenticity, including having an all Arabic cast, speaking the Arabic language. Mosul is a great example of the power of storytelling to broaden one’s perspective and understanding of the human experience.
