Member Spotlight: Paul Borghese

Paul Borghese has extensive experience as an accomplished actor, director, producer and writer. In 2016, he directed ALEC BALDWIN in his film, BACK IN THE DAY. The film also stars WILLIAM DEMEO, DANNY GLOVER, MICHAEL MADSEN, MIKE TYSON, ANNABELLA SCIORRA, SHANNEN DOHERTY, LILLO BRANCATO and JOSEPH D’ONOFRIO. As an actor, Paul most notably portrayed New York Yankee baseball Hall of Famer, YOGI BERRA, in the HBO original film, 61*, directed by BILLY CRYSTAL.

Paul was the former National President of GIAA, the Guild of Italian American Actors and initiated rebuilding and reinventing the fading talent union. He is also an over twenty-five year active member of the Order Sons of Italy in America. Paul also served on the Advisory Board for the Italian American Short Film Festival series along with John Turturro and Al Pacino. In 2001, The National Italian American Foundation presented Paul an award for promoting and portraying positive images of Italian Americans in the entertainment industry.

Member Spotlight: Ana Marie Calise

Ana Marie Calise is an Italian American actress, singer, writer, and editor. She was born in Plymouth, Massachusetts and grew up in Rhode Island. She recently graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drama. Within Tisch, she studied at the Lee Strasberg Institute, The New Studio on Broadway (Musical Theatre), and Stonestreet Studios.

Ana has done an extensive amount of film and TV work. Recently, Ana has had leading and supporting roles in a variety of independent films including “That’s E”, “The Perfect Fit”, and “Creatures of the Night”. She also starred in an episode of “Grave Mysteries” on Investigation Discovery, which is premiering on February 4th. Ana wrote the screenplay for “A Different Kind of Animal” in 2018 and is very excited to work with Blue Slate Films in 2019.

Member ANA MARIE CALISE is currently fundraising for her short film, which stars herself and Robert Capron (Diary of a Wimpy Kid). The story follows a New York City dog walker who takes action when she realizes one of her clients—a dog—could be in trouble.

Member Spotlight: Peter Mancuso

Peter Mancuso is a senior at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts studying Film and Television, minoring in both Producing and Business of Entertainment, Media, and Technology. In his time at NYU, he has focused primarily on writing, directing, and producing, having worked on nearly two dozen student and independent projects. Before coming to film school, Peter spent most of his time in onstage, performing in dozens of plays and musicals. His favorite film is The Empire Strikes Back, and his favorite musical is West Side Story.

Member PETER MANCUSO is working on his senior thesis film. It is a coming of age musical, which follows a young Italian-American from Rhode Island named Rocco. On the night before leaving his Rhode Island home to study photography in New York City, Rocco must decide if he is going to try a long distance relationship with his girlfriend Sofia or give up the only life that he’s ever known to follow his dreams.

Member Spotlight: Emma Cavalier

Emma Cavalier grew up in New York City and was encouraged to develop her acting chops from an early age. Since childhood, she has traveled domestically and internationally pursuing further education and professional experience in the performing arts. During school, she was awarded an honor of excellence in acting, and soon after moved on to extend her experience beyond the stage. She established herself as a trusted and versatile producer, writer, and director during her years living in Massachusetts before earning her SAG-AFTRA membership performing in David O. Russell’s, AMERICAN HUSTLE. Now, back in New York, and soon extending her residence to Los Angeles, Emma has recently come off of performing a supporting role in, SERVING BRÛLÉE, an original play staged in New York City’s, West Village. A proud Italian-American, Emma’s family reaches far and wide. With ancestral roots in Calabria, these days the Cavalier family extends from California, to Ohio, New York, and Canada.

Member Spotlight: Al Linea

Al Linea is a well-seasoned character actor, born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, N.Y. He has been involved in the film industry for the past two decades. Al is the first American-born in his family who immigrated from Porto Empedocle, (Agrigento) Sicily. He is fluent in Sicilian.

Al Linea is known for his distinctive voice and improvisation skills. He has also has been frequently cast by Director James Gray (The Immigrant, We Own The Night) . Additionally, he is also a screenwriter and director with multiple projects that he has co-authored with longtime comedian and friend Chris (Vac) Vaccarelli. He is going into pre-production with a film he co-wrote “The Life We Chose” which is being produced by JARS MEDIA GROUP, and directed by long time producer, Rob Simmons, and executive producer, James Abbott. Be sure to catch him as Sam Giancana in Martin Scorsese’s THE IRISHMAN when it hits Netflix!
