We would like to thank the United Nations for inviting NOIAFT’s Founder/President Taylor Taglianetti to the uplifting and critical event that took place on March 3rd for this year’s Oscar-nominated film, “Tell It Like A Woman.”

Consisting of seven shorts, the film chronicles the courage and hardships of women all around the world, involving a diverse and international group of actresses and directors such as Taraji P. Henson, Jennifer Hudson, Eva Longoria, Cara Delevingne, Margherita Buy, Marcia Gay Harden, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Catherine Hardwicke.

The original song of the movie “Applause” is an Academy Award nominee this year for Best Original Song; written by Diane Warren, performed by Sofia Carson.

The movie is produced by the non-profit film company, We Do It Together, founded by Chiara Tilesi, which advocates for gender equality, and Iervolino & Lady Bacardi Entertainment – the global film & television production company founded by producer Andrea Iervolino and co-owned by Lady Monika Bacardi. The event was promoted by the Permanent Mission of Italy to the UN and UN Women, together with a cross-regional group of Member States.

Congratulations and sincerest gratitude to all involved for their truly admirable efforts. The statistics read were sobering…the UN estimates that it will take up to 286 years to close gaps in legal protection and remove discriminatory laws, and 140 years for women to be represented equally in positions of power and leadership in the workplace. For this reason, it is imperative that media must be used as a tool to empower women. Globally, only 31% of speaking roles are held by women, 21% of filmmakers are women, 23% of films feature women protagonists…

Thank you to NOIAFT member Fiorella DiCarlo who joined us and who helps women everyday as a dietician for women with eating disorders. Very special thank you to Ludovica Murazzani and Alejandra Guevara for thinking of NOIAFT!
